hit counter scriptThis is the equivalent to the revelations about smoking in the 1990s, only bigger... companies have deliberately been making us addicted to things that end up killing us...

Learn the details and tell EVERYONE you know...

I've heard people talking about this for a while, but I've never seen it in print. Food companies (conglomerates, manufacturers, retailers) are the most litigious companies in the world. In America (perhaps in the UK, I don't know) they have specific libel laws which apply only to food and farming, and make it impossible to make any criticism unless you can provide a virtually impossible level of proof. But you'll all know that if you've seen Food INC (ESSENTIAL viewing - I have a copy we can show at the farm as long as we don't charge entry).

With tobacco, it took a senior scientist whistleblower to bring out the truth. This looks like something similar - the article says: "here was a leading food designer, a Henry Ford of mass-produced food, revealing how his industry operates. To protect his business, he did not want to be identified, but he was remarkably candid, explaining how the food industry creates dishes". In America, it would be illegal to publish this article unless the source was willing to be named. In the UK, it is up to the journalist to be sure that, if he is ever sued, his source would stand up in court or he could find a different way to prove that his claims are true - so luckily someone's taken that risk and we get to read it. Thank you Mr Kessler.

For every one proper piece of investigative journalism like this one, there are a thousand, maybe a million little bits of propoganda fed to lazy journalists by PR clones - "Big Macs are now 20% healthier" "Snickers can help you lose wait (as part of a balanced diet)" "M&Ms switch to natural colourings (for one of the ingredients in one of the colours)" - It happens all the time and is one of the reasons its hard not to feel a little insane at least sometimes when you're working on something radically different nce...

Welcome through the looking glass, people... make sure you stay there!
