I am convinced that
- Farmers have to disengage / transition from the existing “channels of distribution” and connect direct with customers. This can be full on and fast like I am doing here, but also a small, e.g. group agreeing to buy chickens. But this reconnection is key…. And is starting to happen….
- Farmers can develop “honest” brands and build real relationships with customers that existing retailers can never achieve.. its all smoke, mirrors and makebelieve with them.
- The existing market is far from free, more soviet in style than anything, albeit a robber baron type….the powers that be, and all involved from Don’s to Agri-business do not see (or want to see) the enterprise / structure of industry itself as the problem…. I do!
