Slow Food Nation is a subsidiary of non-profit of Slow Food USA and part of the international Slow Food movement. It was created to organize the first-ever American collaborative gathering to unite the growing sustainable food movement and introduce thousands of people to food that is good, clean and fair.

The first Slow Food Nation event took place in San Francisco from August 29 to September 1, 2008. Over 85,000 people participated in a Victory Garden, a farmers’ market, a food bazaar, tastings, workshops, lectures, film screenings and more.
